The Shree Sanatan Dharm Pratinidhi Sabha of Fiji National Secretary Vijendra Prakash says thousands of mandalis around the country will be providing food for needy people today as they mark the end of Krishna Janmashtmi.

Krishna Janmashtmi is celebrated annually to mark the birth of Lord Krishna by the followers of Hinduism.

Prakash says mandalis understand that many people have lost their jobs or are working on reduced hours and need this assistance.

He says mandalis will be providing food for these people today regardless of their race or religion and irrespective of whether these people are in attendance of the prayers.

Prakash says mandalis have been identifying needy families from the beginning of the year, and will be providing food for them.

Krishna Janmashtmi is celebrated for 8 days where Hindus gather at homes and temples in the evenings to recite prayers and sing devotional songs for Lord Krishna.

Prakash says the prayer focus is different for this year considering the calamity that the whole world is facing.

He has urged people to continue to pray hard for relief from this Pandemic.
