Chiefs Assistant Coach Neil Banes has revealed that captain Sam Cane is embarrassed after letting Highlanders wing Jona Nareki escape his clutches in one his three outstanding tries.
Nareki was in devastating form with Cane, Brad Weber, Anton Lienert-Brown and Tupou Vaa’i all guilty of missing basic tackles in an attempt to bring him down.
Barnes says the players are tough on themselves and know they should have been better.
He says he and Cane have discussed what happened that night but they have to give credit to Nareki who ran hard all night.
In this week's matches, the Chiefs will take on the Crusaders at 6.05pm Saturday while the Blues will face the Highlanders at 2.35pm Sunday.
