Sairusi Ceinaturaga, who allegedly caused the death of a one-year-old boy in Vunidawa Settlement, Cunningham last year, has applied for the second bail application after being in remand for 8 months.

He appeared before Judge Justice Siainiu Fa’alogo Bull.

Ceinaturaga informed the court that he wishes to have a private counsel for his matter.

When Justice Bull asked why he wants a private counsel when Legal Aid offers services free of charge, Ceinaturaga says that Legal Aid officers had only visited him three times in remand.

The State counsel, Naazish Ali objected to his bail application.

Ceinaturaga is charged with one count of murder, one count of assault causing actual bodily harm and one count of act intended to cause grievous harm.

Ceinaturaga is the victim’s mother’s defacto partner.

The matter is adjourned to the 20th of June.
