Former Ministry of Works Spokesperson Sainiana Radrodro has been acquitted of nine counts of obtaining a financial advantage by deception by the Suva Magistrates Court.

In her judgement this afternoon, Magistrate Waleen George said FICAC did not prove all the elements of the offence.

Magistrate George said it seems clear from evidence before the court that the then Minister for Works Timoci Natuva encouraged in certain instances the Media Liaison Officer who was Sainiana Radrodro to source funds from private contractors and other sources outside the Ministry.

She said the overwhelming impression the court is left with after considering the evidence in its totality is that Natuva cannot clearly remember whether or not he had given specific directions to Radrodro to obtain funds from private contractors.
