Former Manager Treasury for Telecom Fiji Limited, Samuel Brown and Financial Controller, Ashika Nandani agree that $766,327.22 was a legitimate payment made to former Director of TFL, Sanjay Kaba's company Houng Lee Kaba Jacob Limited.
During the trial, Brown said that Kaba had no control on the internal procedure of payments made.
He says according to TFL's internal procedure the fund is transferred after the second approver approves it.
Nandani says that nine companies had applied for the Expression of Interest for the TFL Head Office.
Nandani says four companies were shortlisted for the project and only two companies including HLK Jacob Pte Ltd made their presentation.
She says during a full Board Meeting HLK Jacob Pte Ltd was awarded the tender.
During cross examination Nandani also agreed that Kaba didn't do any inquiry about the project after resignation.
FICAC intends to finish the case tomorrow.
They have called 11th witnesses so far.
Kaba is charged with one count of obtaining a financial advantage.
According to the amended particulars, it is alleged that Kaba between the 27th of January 2017 and the 20th of January 2019 whilst being a board member of Telecom Fiji Limited and Amalgamated Telecom Holdings Limited, engaged in conduct namely using information and influence obtained by virtue of his position to procure a submission of tender through the company Houng Lee Kaba Jacob Limited a company in which he was a director and shareholder, for Project Management Service in relation to TFL for TFL's new office and data centre project, and as a result obtained a financial advantage amounting to $766,327.22 between June 2022 and July 2023, knowing that HLK Jacob was not eligible to receive the financial advantage.
