One of the most significant festivals in Hindu tradition, Karwa Chauth is being celebrated with devotion and enthusiasm today by married women across India and around the world, including Fiji.
On this day, married women undertake a strict fast from dawn to moonrise, praying for the health, prosperity, and long life of their husbands.
In the evening, women gather for the Karwa Chauth puja, decorating their pooja thalis with diya, sweets, sindoor, and the symbolic karwa.
The fast is broken after sighting the moon and offering prayers.
In some regions, unmarried women also keep this fast with the hope of finding a suitable life partner.
The festival continues to be a celebration of marital love, spiritual commitment, and the enduring strength of traditional values in modern times.
