Sabha urges calm and rejects hate after Shiv Temple desecration, confirms prayers have resumed

Prayer resumed at Sanatan Shiv Mandir last night.

As prayers resume at the Sanatan Shiv Temple in Samabula following the desecration last week, the Shree Sanatan Dharm Pratinidhi Sabha of Fiji is calling on people not to believe the hate comments that are being made on the social media.

While speaking to fijivillage News, Sabha National President Dhirendra Nand says following the ritual cleansing held on Saturday, the desecrated area of the temple has been cordoned off.

He says the main temple hall remains fully operational, and regular prayer services have resumed, including last night’s program.

Nand has acknowledged devotees, Sanatan branches, ramayan mandalis, mahila mandals, Members of Parliament, Cabinet Ministers, the Prime Minister, and other faith-based organisations for their support and solidarity during this difficult time.

He says they remain fully committed to upholding peace, the rule of law, and the dignity of our dharmic institutions.

The National President says the Sabha stands resolute in its commitment to restore the sanctity of the Shiv Mandir, believe in the justice system and have full confidence that the authorities will ensure accountability for this act of desecration.

He says the Sabha is actively exploring measures to improve security across all Sanatan temples to prevent such incidents from recurring.

The National President says let us continue to work together in upholding dharma, respecting all faiths, and protecting our sacred spaces.

The Sabha also clarifies it has not called for any march and remains committed to peace, law, and the dignity of dharmic institutions.

Nand further says in light of numerous queries from well-wishers locally and abroad, a remittance advisory has been issued with the official bank and mobile payment details.

He says this is not a public appeal for donations, but a measure to ensure transparency and accountability for those who wish to contribute towards the restoration.

The National President is urging everyone to remit any donations only through the designated channels published in the advisory.

Those who wish to contribute to the restoration of the temple can make donations directly to the Shree Sanatan Shiv Mandir account at BSP Bank, using account number 3763662, BSB code 069, and SWIFT code BOSPFJFJ.
