SODELPA people have backbone and do not jump ship - Gavoka

SODELPA Leader Viliame Gavoka

SODELPA Leader Viliame Gavoka says SODELPA people have backbone and they do not jump ship.

Gavoka has made the comments after former SODELPA MP and former Nasinu Constituency President Lynda Tabuya resigned this morning and joined the People’s Alliance – the party of former SODELPA Leader Sitiveni Rabuka.

Last November, Filimoni Vosarogo resigned as Deputy Party Leader of SODELPA and also joined Rabuka's party.

Gavoka says people that have the SODELPA character remain stead fast when the going gets tough.

He adds that they knew that some of these things were happening.

Gavoka says he totally disagrees with comments by Lynda Tabuya about the SODELPA leadership not living up to expectations.

Tabuya announced her resignation at a People’s Alliance press conference at Holiday Inn this morning.

She says recently supporters in her constituency in Nasinu including the blessings of the head of the Yavusa Matanikorovatu Ratu Paula Rawiriwiri in Kalabu as well hundreds of thousands of supporters in Fiji and overseas have expressed their disappointment and disillusionment with the current state of the SODELPA leadership.

She says after listening carefully to them, she has taken their advice to join her leader Sitiveni Rabuka at the People’s Alliance Party.

Tabuya adds she joined SODELPA because of Rabuka who was the party leader at the time.

She says Rabuka is the common denominator that was in SODELPA and is now in People’s Alliance.
