Development in rural areas has been lagging, and the Government has promised that they will look after our rural community dwellers.

This was stressed by the Minister for Rural, Maritime Development and Disaster Management Sakiasi Ditoka after he visited the Lomaiviti Group.

He says there is still a lot of room to catch up as far as development is concerned in the area of communications and transportation.

Ditoka says they have identified a few black spots in the Lomaiviti group and other issues on the islands.

He says the message that has been central in what they have been trying to convey to the community is that this is a cooperative effort between the community and the Government.

The Minister says rural development is important to the government, and they intend to keep their promise to them.
