Rups Big Bear’s Raiwaqa warehouse has sustained 95 percent damage and although the estimated cost is yet to be determined, the warehouse was insured.

The National Fire Authority says a four-member investigation team will begin work tomorrow to examine the circumstances surrounding the fire that caused extensive damage in the early hours of this morning.

They say the NFA Command Centre received a call through the 910 emergency line from a member of the public about the property fire at 12.36am.

They further say that five fire crews from Suva, Lami, Valelevu, Nakasi and Nausori stations, along with an ambulance, arrived at the scene at 12.46am

CEO Puamau Sowane says the investigation will take at least two days due to the warehouse's large floor space, estimated at 2,000 square metres.

Sowane says the investigation will reveal the probable cause of the fire.

He urges people to call their command centre or the nearest fire station in the event of a fire or rescue emergency.

He also urges property owners, especially businesses, to secure their properties, remain vigilant ensure that adequate fire safety measures are implemented, and hire security to keep watch over their properties.
