Pastor of Hindi Christian Fellowship Church, Ravinesh Chand.

The Pastor of Hindi Christian Fellowship Church, Ravinesh Chand has apologized for fleeing from court last week but says his stand remains that he has not done anything wrong.

He was earlier sentenced to 14 years imprisonment for raping and sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl in Nausori last year but will now spend one more month in jail.

Chand who pleaded to guilty to contempt of court this morning has told the court that he ran away because he was really afraid and didn't know how to face his family.

He says he decided to surrender because he didn't want to run anymore.

While sentencing the man, High Court Judge Justice Daniel Goundar says fleeing from court is a summary offence which shows intentional disrespect.

Justice Goundar says it took more than 20 Police Officers five days to find Chand who later decided to surrender.
