Roy Krishna has officially signed as the marquee player for Malappuram FC in the Super League Kerala 2025 season — a significant step in his return to competitive football following a serious knee injury.
Krishna says after his ACL surgery in December 2024, he often wondered how long it would take to get back to his best.
He says he trusted the process and worked hard on his rehabilitation, both in India and Fiji, and is grateful to have returned to the pitch with the national team in recent weeks.
He adds that signing with Malappuram FC is the perfect opportunity to continue his comeback in a competitive environment.
Krishna says Kerala’s passion for football is well known, and he’s excited to play in front of such enthusiastic fans.
He says this stint is about building fitness, enjoying the game, and preparing for the next big challenge.
The 38-year-old striker’s return to India marks a new chapter in his career, having already made a strong impression with standout performances for ATK Mohun Bagan, Bengaluru FC, and Odisha FC in the Indian Super League.
The Super League Kerala season runs from October to December, with pre-season training beginning this week as Krishna departs for India today to join his new team-mates.
