Roads and bridges in Ba and Rakiraki closed due to flooding

Several roads, crossings and bridges in Ba and Rakiraki are closed due to heavy rain in the Western Division.

Fiji Roads Authority has confirmed that in Ba Nadelei Road, Nadarivatu Road, Naseyani Road, Koroqaqa Road, Babriban Crossing, Rukuruku Crossing,, Tavualevu Bridge, Nadelei Crossing 3 and Nadelei Road, Toge Road, Marinitawa Crossing, Matiniwai Crossing and Vuqele Crossing are closed due to flooding while Mataniwai Crossing road, Nadarivatu Road, Koroqaqa Road, Kings Road from Vatia to Yaqara, Matiniwai Road, Nadarivatu Road and Koeoqaqa Road are open for 4x4 vehicles.

In Rakiraki Korotale Valley Road, Nadelei Road, Mead Road, Vatukaceva Road, Katudrau Road, Narara Road, Korotale Valey Road are also closed because of flooding.

Waimari Road, Yaqara Boundary on Kings Road and Vatukaceva Crossing in Rakiraki are open for 4x4 vehicles.

Meanwhile, the National Disaster Management Office is advising those living in the low lying areas from Tavua to Rakiraki to take precautionary measures following a flash flooding warning issued by the Fiji Meteorological Services.

A flood alert is also in force for low lying areas and areas adjacent to downstream of Vatukacevaceva in the Nadarivatu Ranges.
