The Minister for Public Works Ro Filipe Tuisawau has made a call to the Fiji Roads Authority to speed up the necessary repairs on the island of Vanuabalavu in the province of Lau regarding concerns raised by the villagers about the Lomaloma Jetty and the poor road condition on the island.

The Lomaloma Jetty has been out of service for several years now and has affected boat service to the island.

During his visit to the Lau Province, Minister Ro Filipe expressed frustration over delays in road maintenance across Vanuabalavu, highlighting how these issues affect the daily lives of residents, especially students.

He says funds for the upgrades have already been allocated this year and FRA needs to speed up their operations.

He says these improvements are vital for ensuring the safety and mobility of the people of Vanuabalavu.

Ro Filipe shared that he had visited the site and made it clear to the FRA that the work must be done urgently, without any further delays as the safety of the community and efficient transportation should be top priority.
