Police and military personnel are now shifting patients from Nausori Health Center to higher ground as the Rewa River continues to rise.

The Commissioner Central’s Office confirmed they are moving the patients to an evacuation center in Vunivivi Hill as the Rewa River has burst its banks in some areas and the water level has reached 4.6 meters.

Syria Park is now underwater and has risen by 4 centimeters since 2pm today.

The Commissioner Central’s Office said people have started to move into emergency centers as water has started to reach the Rewa Delta, part of Dilkusha, Lomaivuna, Wailotua and Koronivia areas.

In Nausori, Hancock Road, Navuso Flat and Corbett Avenue are not accessible.

A resident in Waila, Nausori, Krishneel said the water level is approaching Waila while the water level is rising in Waila feeder road and Lal Singh road.

Police are moving into Nausori town and sending people home who are roaming around town.

People in the Rewa delta who need assistance have been urged to contact their Roko Tui or the district office.

Nasi and Muaniweni flats are under water and people living in this area are taking shelter in the emergency centers.

A team along with the Navy is expected to be sent out later today to monitor those people who are taking shelter at the emergency centers.
