Retired judge, Filimoni Jitoko is tipped to be the next Speaker of Parliament.

Prime Minister, Sitiveni Rabuka will nominate Jitoko while Leader of the Opposition, Inia Seruiratu will nominate former Deputy Speaker, Ruveni Nadalo for the position of Speaker of Parliament.

The election of the Speaker will take place in parliament at 8am tomorrow.

Meanwhile Seruiratu says Nadalo’s experience as Deputy Speaker helped him acquire a deep understanding of the procedures of Parliament, the capacity to preside over the passage of legislation, and the ability to oversee debates in an impartial and effective manner.
