Thousands of people living along the Lami-Suva-Nausori corridor are continuing to face water disruptions for almost a month now.

Many people have had no water at all for almost a week while others are depending on water carts.

Olivia Talainivalu of Tacirua says they have been without water supply for the past 2 weeks and are only depending on water carts.

She says 9 people are living in their house and it becomes difficult to cater for all the family members as they sometimes run out of water.

Rizwana Ali of Lakena Nausori says they have been facing water issues for 3 consecutive weeks now and most days don't even receive a bucket of water.

She says this is the worst situation ever as the water carts come every 3rd day.

The 38-year-old says she has a sickly mother-in-law and a daughter who attends school.

Rakeshwar Prasad of Khalsa says they have to depend on other families who have water supply as they have been without water for a week now.

He says the water carts do not even supply water to them or fill their tanks.

Prasad says the water cart only supplies water to the housing area and not to their settlements.

Bimlesh Chand of Baulevu Nausori says they are facing water disruptions for the past 3 years now whereby water comes early in the morning and closes at around 10am.

He says the water pressure is very low.

Meanwhile, the Water Authority of Fiji says they are providing water carts to deliver water to the affected areas while in some squatter settlements where water trucks cannot reach due to less road access, the residents are urged to fill water from the places where water carts are provided.

WAF has also issued restrictions, prohibiting members of the public in the Lami-Suva-Nausori corridor to avoid water usage for car washing, watering of plants and gardens, irrigation of new turf, topping up of swimming pools, and washing of hard surfaces, like driveways and footpaths.
