Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says reports on ABC Radio Australia about brawls starting because of food in Fiji are being fire-fanned by people in the country.

He highlighted this when questioned if the government is concerned about these misleading reports being filed to overseas media.

Sayed-Khaiyum says it is silly to suggest this and these things are not worth commenting on as there are people in Fiji who are misrepresenting facts.

He says everyone knows that the social unrest was not because of food.

We are awaiting comments from ABC Radio Australia.
