Thousands of people living in Tamavua, Samabula, Mead Road, Nabua, Waimanu Road, Walu Bay and Lami are unsure when water supply will normalise as repair works on the damaged 600mm main line along Princes Road continues from last night.

The Water Authority of Fiji says their night shift repair team widened the trench to provide adequate and safe working space for WAF personnel to undertake the necessary repair.

WAF says multiple utility services are located on-site, including high-voltage underground Energy Fiji Limited power cable which the team has been working its way around in order to access the pipe.

They say safety precautions are being taken not to damage other utility services, especially the EFL power line which poses a safety risk to all on-site.

When fijivillage visited the site today, the WAF team was removing excess water from the trench to try and expose the damaged pipe.

No timeline has been given by WAF on when water supply will be restored.
