Renowned journalist and radio personality Malakai Veisamasama laid to rest

Close to 500 people attended the funeral of Malakai Veisamasama today at the Calvary Temple in Samabula.

Veisamasama was a well-known journalist and radio personality at Communications Fiji Limited for 22 years and was also the acting Chairman for the Boxing Commission of Fiji.

While presenting his eulogy today, CFL Managing Director William Parkinson said Mala’s passing leaves a huge hole in the company’s life.

Parkinson said when he thinks of Mala he thinks of friendship as he was always there when you needed him.

He added that Veisamasama’s family had said that Mala was blind all his life.

Parkinson said that the high point of Veisamasama’s career would be covering the 2000 coup.

He added that Veisamasama’s life was amazing and he was privileged to be part of it.

Veisamasama has been laid to rest and is survived by his wife and five children.

Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama and Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum were also in attendance at Veisamasama’s funeral.
