Fiji Roads Authority’s CEO, Kamal Prasad says they expect to finish reinstatement work on Robertson Road in Suva City by Monday.

The road was closed around two weeks ago due to burst mains which were fixed late last week.

Prasad says the delay was caused due to logistics of materials and contractors were also tied up with other important repair works after the recent cyclone.

When questioned why reinstatement work was not quickly finished as Robertson Road is in the middle of Suva City and the road closure is causing a lot of inconvenience to the travelling public, Prasad says their contractors had to be very careful as they had to thread the drainage pipes close to power and TFL lines which posed a hazard to the workers.

Meanwhile, a taxi driver, Ritesh Deo says they have been badly affected.

Another taxi driver, Navin Kumar says while taxi business has been affected, they are happy the road will be finally fixed.
