The 2025 Vodafone Ratu Sukuna Bowl soccer and rugby challenge will be held at Subrail Park in Labasa on the 21st and 22nd of next month.

The Ratu Sukuna Bowl is a prestigious, annual sporting competition and trophy in Fiji contested between the Republic of Fiji Military Forces and the Fiji Police Force.

Founded in 1951 as a rugby match, it has grown to include multiple sports and events throughout the week, fostering sportsmanship and community spirit while also promoting a theme of national unity and a drug-free nation.

Accepting the challenge from the RFMF, Deputy Commissioner of Police Aporosa Lutunauga says that while the sporting rivalry and enjoyment are at the heart of the annual tournament, coming together for a greater purpose where the tournament to raise awareness on such a critical issue confronting Fiji should remain a top priority.

He says the Fiji Police Force is actively taking steps in leading by example with mandatory drug testing on the discussion table, backed by the Minister for Policing.

DCP Lutunauga says as custodians of Fiji's law and national security, it must start with them and they must be seen to be leading the fight.

He adds the Fiji Police Force is committed to this by ensuring they are all part of the solution and not the problem. Speaking on the Ratu Sukuna Bowl challenge, DPC Lutunauga says thanks to modern technology and the quick dissemination of information, they see from RFMF facebook posts there has been an increase in the number of training camps by various affiliates and divisions.

He says that while the Police team is once again coming in as underdogs, their aim is to retain the trophy.
