The trial for SODELPA MP Simione Rasova has been moved to Thursday.

Rasova is charged with one count each of False Information to a Public Servant and Obtaining Financial Advantage.

He is alleged to have falsely stated that his permanent place of residence was in Nasenivolau, Nabouwalu village, Ono, Kadavu and allegedly obtained $21,350 in parliamentary allowances between July 2019 and April 2020.

FICAC Commissioner Rashmi Aslam asked Suva High Court Judge, Justice Dr Thushara Kumarage for the trial to be moved to Thursday as the defence has not read the disclosures.

Defence lawyer, Barbara Malimali agreed with the prosecution to move the trial to Thursday, however, she will be submitting a recusal application on the basis that the court has heard three similar cases and the prosecution has the same witness from Parliament.

She says they are basing their application on the credibility of the witnesses.

The hearing of the recusal application will be held at 2pm tomorrow, while Rasova's trial will start at 8.30am Thursday.
