As thousands of Hindus in Fiji celebrate the birth of Lord Ram today, the occasion serves as a reminder to follow the path of righteousness, truth and moral integrity.

Kushal Sundar, a devotee from Koronivia and member of the Lokia Landing Ramayan Mandali says that the past eight days have been deeply spiritual and uplifting for him.

Sundar says it has helped him to reflect on his life.

He says Ram Naumi teaches us to respect our parents.

On the occasion of Ram Naumi devotees recite the holy book of Ramayan, visit temples, pray, sing kirtans, distribute food and do community service.

Ram Naumi concludes at midday today.
