Financial constraints have not deterred the Raiwasa Taveuni 7s team, as their new players' passion for rugby has driven the management to uphold the team's legacy and raise funds to secure a spot in the upcoming Fiji Bitter Labasa 7s.

While speaking to fijivillage Sports, team Manager Seba Vulakoro says the team raised funds for travel and registration through farming and fundraising events, adding that they are still seeking sponsors to support their preparations.

Vulakoro says the team comprises dalo farmers from Taveuni who hope to secure sponsorship soon to achieve their goals and develop national players.

Meanwhile, 24 spots for the Labasa 7s have been filled with Raiwasa Taveuni and Police Blue being two of the favourites in the tournament.

The tournament will feature 40 men’s teams competing for $7,000, eight women’s teams vying for $1,500, and 16 youth teams competing for $2,000.

Organizers have confirmed that 16 spots remain in the main competition, with six places still available in the women’s category.

Teams can contact Vika Vataniyaragi at 9464236 or Pateresio Racumu at 9104425 to register.

The three-day tournament will be held from next Thursday to Saturday at Subrail Park, Labasa.
