As pressing social issues such as drug use, bullying and behavioural challenges continue, Education Minister Aseri Radrodro has urged stronger commitment from school leaders to lift academic performance and increase student participation.

Radrodro raised these issues during his consultations with Heads of Government Schools at Jai Narayan College.

The meetings provided an opportunity for school leaders to share their progress and challenges, while receiving updates on key Ministry priorities.

The Minister noted that despite significant government investment, results in many schools remain below expectations, particularly in examinations and scholarship awards.

He reminded Heads of Schools of their responsibility for more than 70,000 secondary students and stressed the importance of clear appointment processes, open communication, and decisive leadership.

Radrodro reaffirmed the Ministry’s support through improved staffing, infrastructure upgrades, curriculum reforms, the integration of indigenous languages, the expansion of vocational pathways, and nationally recognised micro-qualifications.

He called for active leadership, accountability, and innovation to ensure government schools set the standard in academic achievement, student well-being and community engagement.
