Minister for Education Aseri Radrodro says he will be meeting Fiji National University Vice Chancellor and Pro Chancellor today regarding the increase in hostel fees.

While confirming this with fijivillage News, Radrodro says this will be a meeting with the Ministry of Education only.

Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Professor Biman Prasad had also confirmed to fijivillage News that FNU had made this decision unilaterally without informing the Ministry of Finance or the Ministry of Education.

He says he had written to Radrodro about this.

Professor Prasad is also calling on the university to postpone the hostel fee increase until the next budget when the government will evaluate whether additional allowances are required due to the rise in hostel fees and other student expenses.

The Fiji Higher Education Commission is also expected to meet with key stakeholders to discuss the matter today.
