Rabuka arrives in India for talks with Modi and signing MoUs

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has arrived in India where he will be meeting India Prime Minister Naredra Modi tomorrow.

He arrived at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi this afternoon and was welcomed by the Minister of State for Education Dr. Sukanta Majumdar.

Artists also performed a cultural dance in his welcome.

Rabuka will hold bilateral talks with Modi where they will discuss key issues vital to bilateral cooperation, and these include climate resilience, renewable energy, digital transformation, health, education, and people-to-people ties.

This important visit will also see the signing of a number of important Memoranda of Understanding, aimed at promoting economic cooperation between the two nations.

Rabuka is also expected to pay a courtesy call on the President of India Droupadi Murmu.

The Prime Minister will also deliver a keynote address on his vision for the Pacific as an “Ocean of Peace” at the Indian Council of World Affairs.

The Prime Minister will also engage with the Fijian diaspora community in India and explore opportunities to enhance cultural and economic linkages between the two nations.

Also accompanying the Prime Minister are Suluweti Rabuka, Minister for Health Atonio Lalabalavu, and the Permanent Secretary for the Office of the Prime Minister, Dr Lesi Korovavala. Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade Manoa Kamikamica is acting Prime Minister while Rabuka is away on official travel.
