Jasper Williams High School and Nadi Sangam Primary School are the two recent west based schools to implement the Recycling on The Go (ROG) Ambassadors Program.

ROG Ambassadors Program is designed to impact mindset towards recycling and to instill best practices of recycling in the school environment.

The event was officiated by the Minister for Education, Aseri Radrodro.

The program which was successfully piloted at Jai Narayan College last year, has been upscaled by the Swire Shipping’s continued commitment to the program as they are partners with PRF.

The Founder of Pacific Recycling Foundation and CEO of Waste Recyclers Fiji Limited, Amitesh Deo says it is exciting for Fiji where student advocates and take a lead role in becoming agents of recycling.

Deo says they are aware that Jasper Williams High School has a huge network of old scholars and expect the students to take back the message of best practices of recycling to their homes.

Swire Shipping Regional Manager, Alex Pattison says there was a need to educate the younger generation and provide them the platform to practice recycling under the guidance of experts, and in this case the Pacific Recycling Foundation.

Deo says Nadi Sangam Primary School is situated in the heart of Nadi Town and has a school roll over 1,000 students and is earmarked to become the model primary school in the country for recycling.

He says the implementation of the program allows students to demonstrate environmental responsibility and good decision-making.
