The Republic of Fiji Military Forces will once again join its regional and global partners for Exercise Talisman Sabre 2025, the largest multinational military training activity ever conducted in Australia, from 13th July to 4th August 2025.
RFMF's participation in this eleventh iteration of Talisman Sabre reinforces its strategic transformation into a modern, capable, interoperable, and combat-ready defence force prepared to project across the Southwest Pacific.
Commander RFMF Major General Jone Kalouniwai says their participation in Exercise Talisman Sabre 2025 is a testament to the RFMF’s growing ability to operate alongside our regional allies in complex, joint military environments.
Kalouniwai says this engagement reflects our unwavering commitment to maintaining security, stability, and cooperation within the Pacific region.

Australian Defence Force Chief of Joint Operations, Vice Admiral Justin Jones, says Talisman Sabre demonstrates their enduring alliance with the United States through deepening cooperation in training and force integration.
Jones says it is a key opportunity to work with their partners from across the region and around the globe, demonstrating their combined capability to achieve large-scale operational outcomes together.
He says as well as welcoming the largest ever contingent of partner nations, Australia is also excited to be holding part of this year’s exercise in Papua New Guinea.
The ADF Chief says this is an important demonstration of the deepening integration between Australia and Papua New Guinea’s Defence Forces.

The RFMF says Interoperating—Engagement in multinational exercises like Talisman Sabre enables RFMF to operate effectively alongside regional and international partners in joint operational theaters.
They say ready—focused efforts are increasing the RFMF’s combat readiness to respond rapidly to security challenges across local, regional, and global settings.
Exercise Talisman Sabre 2025 will involve over 30,000 personnel from 19 nations, with activities spread across Australia and, for the first time, in Papua New Guinea, aligning with its 50th Anniversary of Independence.
Participating countries include Australia, the United States, Canada, Fiji, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Japan, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Papua New Guinea, the Philippines, the Republic of Korea, Singapore, Thailand, Tonga, and the United Kingdom, with Brunei, Malaysia, and Vietnam attending as observers.
This year's exercise will showcase multi-domain warfighting capabilities, incorporating land, air, sea, space, and cyber operations, and will include amphibious and airborne operations, as well as firepower demonstrations across Queensland, Western Australia, Northern Territory, New South Wales, and Christmas Island.
