The St. Christopher's Home in Nakasi got the surprise of their lives yesterday after a team from the 2024 Vodafone Ratu Sukuna Bowl Committee undertook an initiative to clean the Home and also plant cassava for the Home’s use.

The Committee says they have introduced several initiatives under the theme, “Stronger Together: Building a Drug-Free Nation through Family, Unity, and Reconciliation”, where the primary goal is to raise awareness about the collective fight against drug abuse, promote community well-being, and support vulnerable groups, particularly children in orphanages.

They say their initiative at the St. Christopher's Home was supported by members of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces and Fiji Police Force.

The Committee also donated sports balls for the kids.

The Ratu Sukuna Bowl Committee began their outreach at Dilkusha Home, a long-established institution dedicated to caring for children in need, where personnel from both forces teamed up with the staff to improve the environment for the children.

Their efforts included the thorough cleaning of the premises, planting cassava, and weeding the gardens to create a safe and nurturing space for the children.

The Committee says after their work at Dilkusha Home, members of the two forces visited Gospel High School in Samabula.

They say the focus of this visit was to educate students on the serious dangers of illegal drug use.

The Committee adds representatives led discussions that emphasized the health, legal, and social consequences of drug abuse, aiming to equip the youth with knowledge and strategies to resist peer pressure and make informed decisions.
