Former Police Commissioner Sitiveni Qiliho and former FijiFirst General Secretary, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum

The alleged inciteful comments made by former Police Commissioner, Sitiveni Qiliho after the 2022 general elections is still under investigation by Police.

Qiliho had made claims of violence in the stoning incident and vandalism after the 2022 general election.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Crime Mesake Waqa confirms that the stoning incidents are now being examined.

On December 21st 2022, Qiliho reported that a team headed by the Divisional Crime Officer North had been tasked to conduct a thorough investigation into a report of vandalism in the region.

Questions have also been raised on why the investigation is taking a long time as the alleged incident occurred in December 2022.

fijivillage News is also asking Police on whether former FijiFirst General Secretary, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum is under investigation for allegedly making inciteful comments after the 2022 general elections.

Sayed-Khaiyum had claimed in a press conference on December 21st 2022 that the stoning incidents highlighted by the Police demonstrate the divisive character of the People’s Alliance Leader Sitiveni Rabuka.

When questioned at the time, he had further said that they had received some incidents.

National Federation Party Leader, Professor Biman Prasad had called for Sayed-Khaiyum to be investigated as he was allegedly inciting violence and hatred.

We are awaiting a response from Police.
