Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Professor Biman Prasad

As Fijians are doing final preparations for Christmas tomorrow, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Professor Biman Prasad says they are committed to overcoming obstacles, whether they be social, economic, or environmental and creating a nation where every Fijian, regardless of their background can progress and enjoy all fundamental freedoms without any fear.

While reflecting on the achievements of the Coalition Government in its second year, Professor Prasad says this year has been one of resilience and determination to continue building a foundation that will result in lasting social and economic advancement.

He says the Truth and Reconciliation Commission will bring permanent closure to the dark chapter of political turmoil and permanent stability.

Professor Prasad says economic prosperity will lead to more income for all citizens.

He says our history, marked by unique challenges, has taught us the value of unity and strength in diversity.

Deputy Prime Minister says Christmas is about joy and merry-making by families taking a well-earned break at the end of the year.

He encourages Fijians to remember the less fortunate.

He also says he must thank all those, including citizens who have sacrificed their Christmas break to provide a helping hand to their neighbors.

Professor Prasad wishes all Fijians a joyful Christmas, hoping it brings good tidings.
