Named in honour of the mother of PSH Hospitals Founder and chief executive officer, Parvish Kumar, Pratima Pharmaceutical Industries marks a groundbreaking milestone in Fiji’s healthcare sector.
The Pharma Plant being established at 1 Legalega Road, Nadi (opposite Nadi Airport), conveniently at the hub of the regional gateway.
As the first locally owned pharmaceutical manufacturing plant venture in the country, it is being uniquely positioned to supply essential medicines not only locally but also to the wider Pacific region.
This industry has been established with a vision to solve one of the most pressing issues facing our healthcare system— the frequent shortage of vital medicines.
Pratima Pharmaceutical Industries promises to bring consistent, reliable access to much-needed medications across the country. The facility will also invest in ground-breaking research, particularly in the area of herbal medicine, all produced to meet rigorous Australian standards.
This forward-thinking approach blends traditional knowledge with modern pharmaceutical excellence, offering new hope to countless patients. The venture aims at reducing reliance on overseas imports, continuity in supply chain during pandemics and supporting regional access to medications.
The local production of medicines will significantly reduce dependence on imports and shorten supply chains, ensuring that hospitals and clinics are better equipped to treat patients promptly.
Moreover, the establishment of this industry is expected to create jobs and foster skill development in pharmaceutical sciences right here in Fiji. Pratima Pharmaceutical Industries is not just a business; it’s a care and commitment to public health.
Speaking at the project unveiling, Mr Kumar shared, “My mother always believed in helping those in need. Naming this industry after her is my way of honouring her legacy and keeping her spirit alive in something that will help save lives.”
His emotional connection to the project has driven his unwavering commitment to ensuring the plant not only produces medicine but becomes a symbol of hope for families across Fiji and the Pacific.
