Law student and aspiring actor from Levuka, Shayal Simran Prasad is representing Fiji in the Miss India Worldwide Pageant currently underway in the United States.

While speaking to fijivillage, Prasad says people close to her encouraged her to take part in the pageant, including her mother who made sure she does not miss this huge opportunity.

The 23 year old says her journey has been awesome so far where she is trying to keep up with the politics, everything around the world, trying to balance school work, her vacation and preparation as well.

She further says she wants to gain more self-confidence, experience and exposure from this pageant and aims to empower young girls to let go of their fears and take up such opportunities in the future.

Prasad says she has been part of the Hibiscus Festival and Miss Asia Top Model International previously, and realized every time she was part of a pageant, she reached closer to achieving her goals and becoming a better version of herself.

The law student also has aspirations of becoming an actor and has studied at the prestigious Anupam Kher's Actor Prepares Institute in India.

She says this was one of the best experiences of her life because it allowed her to be out there in her dream field and it also gave her an opportunity to learn a lot about the film industry and to witness film shooting.

Prasad further says after completing her law studies, she has a few opportunities to join the Indian film industry and is working on a film as well, but will disclose the details once she officially starts her acting career.

The Miss India Worldwide Pageant concludes this Saturday in New Jersey.
