Black Ferns sevens sensation and try scoring machine Portia Woodman Wickliffe will make history as she will become the first female Ambassador and Walk of Fame Inductee for the 2026 McDonald’s Coral Coast Fiji 7s.

The McDonald’s Coral Coast Fiji organizers says they are proud to announce that Woodman Wickliffe, is one of the greatest players in women’s rugby history.

They say in addition, Woodman-Wickliffe will become the first ever woman inducted into the prestigious Rugby-town Walk of Fame, joining an illustrious group of rugby icons including the late Jonah Lomu, Waisale Serevi, David Campese, Bryan Habana, George Gregan, and 2026 ambassadors Jerry Tuwai and Rosko Specman.

Organizers says a true legend of the game Woodman-Wickliffe’s career has redefined women’s rugby on the world stage as she is a World Cup winner in both 15s and 7s, a Double Olympic Champion and Silver Medalist, and one of the sport’s all-time leading try scorers.

They say her explosive power, determination, and leadership have inspired millions across the globe especially young women throughout the Pacific.

Tournament Director Jay Whyte says Woodman-Wickliffe’s appointment is a historic moment for the Coral Coast 7s and for women’s rugby because her ability has transformed the women’s game through her brilliance and humility.

Whyte says she’s a true ambassador of rugby values, and it’s an honour to celebrate her legacy as both our first female Ambassador and the first woman to be inducted into the RugbyTown Walk of Fame.

He says this recognition is long overdue and this new honour joins the prestigious FWCC Rusila Nagasau Medal, which is awarded to the Women’s Player of the Tournament, ensuring the women’s division now recognises both overall performance and finishing excellence at the highest level.

The 2026 McDonald’s Coral Coast Fiji 7s will be held from January 15th to 17th 2026, at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka.
