Police Commissioner Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho

Police Commissioner Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho has confirmed to fijivillage they will be sending a team from the Police Special Response Unit to Kadavu to arrest about 30 men who allegedly attacked officers uprooting marijuana from a farm.

He says they have had police officers in Kadavu for about two years to specifically focus on drug operations.

He says he got a briefing this morning that the confrontation happened in the last two days and it involved those men allegedly stoning the officers and throwing coconuts at them.

Qiliho says he will also have discussions with the military for likely back-up.

The Police Commissioner says they have increased capabilities out at sea now that can allow for fast movement across the islands.

Qiliho adds that for those who maybe living in a bubble, the law about marijuana is clear and they will act on that decisively.
