Police will increase their operations on targeting those involved in the theft of crops and livestock.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Livai Driu this is after they received information regarding the theft of dalo from the Vunidawa area in Naitasiri.

He says however, police were able to seize the bags of root crops and investigations continue.

ACP Driu says farm and community visitations have enabled Police to conduct profiling of farmers and members of the farming communities, strengthening police-community relations.

He says the majority of the theft cases are opportunistic and adding policing efforts will be relentless in ensuring those involved are arrested and brought to justice.

ACP Driu says the sharing of information about the movement of people, unfamiliar to the community or seen acting suspiciously is important, with both police and other members of their community.

He further says showing a united front would be a deterrent to would-be offenders.

He adds Police are working with the government and other stakeholders in addressing the root causes of crime, as police cannot fight crime alone, as the solution for crime lies within the community.

The Fiji Police Force encourages the sharing of information through Crime Stoppers on 919.
