Police Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu confirms the Fiji Police Force is preparing to introduce body cameras for its officers as part of an ongoing modernisation and transformation initiative.

Speaking to fijivillage News, Commissioner Tudravu said that while discussions have been held, the implementation of body cameras will be gradual to ensure that the necessary legal and operational frameworks are properly established.

He says the introduction of body-worn cameras involves more than simply issuing the devices to officers, and that proper systems for data storage, management, and security must be developed before deployment.

He says this plan is part of the force’s wider efforts to enhance accountability, transparency, and professionalism within the police force.
