The Fiji Police Force has recorded 780 serious offences so far this month that includes burglary, house break-ins, sexual offences and drunk cases.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations Livai Driu says 876 cases were recorded in the same period last year which is a 11 percent decrease.

In an interview with fijivillage News ACP Driu says they have pushed out officers for visibility where they are searching people, conducting mobile foot patrol and have also been conducting community policing.

ACP Driu says of the 780 offences, 146 are in relation to drug possession, making it the most common offence so far this month.

He says officers have stopped people on the streets and found drugs on them.

The Assistant Commissioner says their drug operations will continue where they will search homes and suspicious movement of vehicles from certain residences.
