Police presence throughout the night in the heart of Suva City

There is heavy Police presence throughout the night in the heart of Suva City from Monday this week as Police work on arresting everyone involved in the attacks and robberies in the capital city.

Fijivillage has been monitoring the capital city every night after the reports and emergence of videos of people getting attacked and robbed in the middle of the night or early in the morning.

Police officers are working with the Suva City Council and the Ministry of Health to ensure that Suva City is safe at night.

We have also received information that the groups of people attacking and robbing people are working with some people including some nightclub workers and those at the bars, monitoring those people that are carrying valuable items and cash.

These people at the bars who are linked to the group of attackers outside then contact them to inform them on who should be followed, attacked and robbed.

Police are also dealing with people who are loitering around in the capital city.

These people are also seen as opportunists who are hanging around to target vulnerable people coming out of nightclubs, bars or restaurants.

Continuous arrests are expected until these issues are addressed.

Meanwhile the two men allegedly involved in the attack and robbery earlier captured on the CCTV footage along Victoria Parade, have been caution interviewed and released, however they may be brought in again for questioning.

Investigators are again requesting anyone who was a victim of the Victoria Parade attacks to come forward as Police need to link the suspects to the crimes.

A man had come forward but could not positively identify those who were taken into custody over the weekend.

Police stress that they need witnesses or anyone who can positively identify and link those involved in the attacks.

Police say there are other victims who they are hoping will come forward to assist with the ongoing investigations as their statements will be crucial to determining the outcome of the case.

The CCTV footage has been widely circulated online.

It shows a group of people cornering people walking along Victoria Parade at night, brutally beating them up and robbing them.

A group of people are seen grabbing people and another group come and punch them up and then rob them. They then run away.

Other people are seen walking past while the attacks continue.
