Police now able to use cameras strategically located outside Shop N Save outlets for monitoring.

Police are now able to use cameras strategically located outside Shop N Save outlets around the country for monitoring and are also working with the Suva Chamber of Commerce to get specialised cameras.

A Memorandum of Understanding for the use of those cameras was signed today by the Police Commissioner Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho and Executive Director at Shop N Save Nisheel Deo.

Qiliho says the cameras that will be enslaved to them are the ones located outside Shop N Save supermarkets where the public move around.

He adds it allows them to monitor that general area as the cameras are linked to Police Command Centres.

The Police Commissioner says this new step is one of the first they are doing with a company and it is also something he has picked up from his exposure in the military.

He says he has also learned a lot during his visits to China.

Qiliho also confirms that they are working with the Suva Chamber of Commerce to get in specialised cameras to monitor hot spots.

He says they are planning to get six or seven specialised cameras.
