Following serious concerns raised by residents of Navua about drunkards standing beside the RARS Supermarket entrance and asking for money and abusing people last night, the Fiji Police Force says they are monitoring all drinking spots within Navua.

Residents have raised concerns about their safety after going to the supermarket last night and being sworn at by a drunkard when he refused to give him money.

While responding to questions by fijivillage News, police say they conduct regular patrols—both on foot and by vehicle in the area.

Police say they also conduct fire calls on weekends to ensure comprehensive coverage of these locations.

They say the individuals seen standing by the roadside have been removed from the area opposite the supermarket.

Police say many of them reside nearby and villages along the Queens Highway and they wait there to catch transportation to their homes.

They add they have not received any reports of abusive behavior towards shoppers from either management or customers and are urging people to lodge complaints.
