Despite the rain, spirits remained high as the Cunningham community gathered to officially launch their Family Fun Week — a celebration aimed at strengthening the role of father figures and male mentors in society.

The event is organised by the Men’s Fellowship of the Vunidakua Methodist Circuit in Cunningham which focuses on promoting positive male influence in nurturing strong families and resilient communities.

The week-long celebration was launched by Eparama Turaganivalu, Head of the Mataqali Nawavatu Landowning Unit and was attended by Minister for Lands, Filimoni Vosarogo and the Divisional Police Commander Southern, Senior Superintendent of Police Wate Vocevoce.

The theme of the family week is “The Heart of the Home and Beyond”, capturing the profound influence of fathers, brothers, uncles and male mentors—not just within their homes, but across the broader community.

There are planned activities throughout the week including interactive sessions, educational programs, and recreational events designed to bring families and neighbours together in celebration, meaningful dialogue and solidarity.

The event will conclude on May 30th.
