Police are visiting schools to conduct safety awareness ahead of the school break, and it is imperative that the same safety messages are reinforced at home.

The Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations (ACP) Livai Driu, highlighted that they have conducted this as many social, religious and sporting gatherings are scheduled over the next few days and going into the two-week break.

He says after the secondary school rugby semi finals last week, they had to ask students to return home after being found in groups in Suva.

ACP Driu says students trying to enter nightclubs is also an issue that will not be tolerated.

He further says with events and gatherings, criminal opportunists will also try to take advantage of the increased movement of people.

ACP Driu is calling for everyone’s support in ensuring the safety and well-being of the children.
