If you are travelling from Nasinu along Ratu Mara Road towards Suva this morning, please make alternative travel arrangements as there is maintenance works on the leaking Nabua Wastewater Pump Station in front of Ratu Sukuna Memorial School.

WAF says work is still in progress, however, timelines are delayed due to weather and site conditions.

They say due to the severity of the works, extensive traffic management is presently in place.

WAF adds their teams together with relevant utility providers and contractors continue to carry out maintenance works – which require the demolition of concrete anchor blocks with 40MPA strength to expose the leaking wastewater pipeline.

They say this involved 17 hours of demolition work of the concrete anchor blocks, this is still ongoing adding that heavy rain presently being experienced at the work site area and have also hampered the speed of work.

WAF also says once exposed, maintenance works on the damaged section of the pipeline will be carried out, with backfilling and reinstatement works to follow after.

They add therefore, the anticipated completion timeframe has been adjusted to midnight tonight with road carriageway and shoulder reinstatement works to follow after.
