Fiji Airways National Men’s 7s Coach Ben Gollings

Fiji Airways National Men’s 7s Coach Ben Gollings says hosting the Australian and New Zealand 7s teams in Fiji will enable them to gauge how they are tracking.

The New Zealand and Australian men’s 7s teams will play against two Fiji 7s teams in a separate tournament next Friday and Saturday.

He says it’s fantastic that they can host both these teams in Fiji as it is a very important component for their preparation for the HSBC 7s series.

Gollings says playing against these teams will also provide them with a much-needed hit out against the international opposition leading into the next two legs.

He adds that both teams have not played a lot of rugby during the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly for the New Zealand side as they have been starved of the ability to play games.

He says the great thing about 7s is that although they are opponents on the field, there is always a willingness to support each other’s game.

Meanwhile, the third leg of the Fun Flavour Super 7s Series will begin tomorrow with the women’s competition while the men’s competition will start on Friday.

You can catch the live commentaries of the men’s quarter-finals, semi-finals and final on Saturday on our sister station, Viti FM.
