A burst along pipes at the Waimanu Pumping Station on Sunday is affecting the water supply at the Tamavua Water Treatment Plant and the Water Authority of Fiji is now asking people that live in parts of Suva, Nasinu, Tamavua, Tacirua, Samabula and Lami to store water that will last for two to three days.

Pumps 3 and 4 at the Waimanu Pumping Station are affected by the burst.

On Sunday, WAF teams shut down pumps 3 and 4 to allow them to safely access and excavate the site to assess and determine the extent of the damage.

Excavation and inspection works were conducted by the Water Authority of Fiji.

WAF teams have found the cause of the leakage and due to extensive damage sustained they will be doing temporary fabrication works to allow for quicker restoration of water supply while a more permanent solution is worked on.

These works are currently underway and as a result, those getting water from the Tamavua Water Treatment Plant should expect water supply disruptions until further notice.

You should expect water supply disruptions if you live in areas from the from Tamavua-i-Wai Bridge through to Togalevu Naval Base along the Queens Highway including all side streets.

Those living along Rewa Street to Flagstaff roundabout including all side streets should also expect water disruptions.

People in Kula Street, Kaka Street, parts of Gaji Road including Jittu Estate and elevated areas along Laucala Bay and Ratu Sukuna Road should expect water disruptions.

Waimanu Road including all side streets will also be affected.

You should expect water disruptions if you live in parts Nasinu and Lami as the reservoirs that service these areas are dropping to critical levels.

The Water Authority of Fiji says the water level in these reservoirs did not recover well last night.

The affected areas include Nailuva Road, Delainavesi, Panoramic, Uduya Point, Waiqanake, Osonabukete, Ben Naiveli, Namadi Heights and Princes Road which come under the Tamavua Reservoir.
