Peter Aitsi appointed to the board of CFL

Chair of PNG FM Limited, Peter Aitsi

Chair of PNG FM Limited, Peter Aitsi MBE has been appointed to the board of Communications Fiji Ltd, the parent company of Legend FM, FM96, VitiFM, Navtarang, Radio Sargam and fijivillage.

CFL Board Chair, William Parkinson says Aitsi’s appointment is long overdue.

Parkinson says Aitsi has had a long association with CFL starting with his appointment in 1994 as a founding executive officer of PNGFM Ltd, CFL’s Papua New Guinea subsidiary. Following his departure from the company, Aitsi became Director and the Chairman of PNG FM Ltd.

Parkinson says they have wanted to formally appoint Aitsi, as Chair of the PNG FM subsidiary, to the CFL Group board for some time but were prevented by the, now repealed, Media Industry Development Act.

He says this move further strengthens ties across the Group assisting the objective to maximise use of CFL group resources across both the Fiji and Papua New Guinea operations.

Peter Aitsi is a well recognised and respected leader in the Papua New Guinea business community serving currently on a number of corporate boards and having received a number of awards including MBE for his services to the development of the media industry in Papua New Guinea.

He is also well known for his work in promoting freedom of expression and human rights and is currently Chairman of Transparency International PNG.
