Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Professor Biman Prasad

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Professor Biman Prasad says people who spread fake news need to understand they are causing anxiety in the minds of people that they will not be helped or looked after.

He made these comments after fijivillage News asked him about the fake news on social media claiming VAT on medicine has been increased to 15 percent.

Professor Prasad says this is what the fakers did before the elections - they created fear and told people that the scholarships, social welfare and bus fare subsidies would be taken away.

He adds these are the same people making mischief now.

Professor Prasad says there are irrelevant politicians that are pre-empting what the government might or might not do.

The Deputy Prime Minister adds the people know this is a compassionate government.
